💔 Sad news this morning: Jurassic Park star Sam Neill has tragically passed away at the age of 78.
To me, this remains one of my all-time favourite movies, a true classic and a massive part of my childhood. Few films capture that sense of wonder quite like it. And it boasts what is arguably the greatest movie theme ever written.
In memory of Sam (and the unforgettable Dr. Alan Grant), here is the legendary John Williams conducting the Vienna Philharmonic in a beautiful live performance of the Jurassic Park theme.
Rest in peace, Sam Neill. Thank you for the magic. 🦕🎶
In 2001, Lata Mangeshkar is awarded the Bharat Ratna. Seven years later, P. Susheela amma, the foundational blueprint, melody Queen of South India is given a mere Padma Bhushan. Twelve years later, S. Janaki, a vocal powerhouse of unmatched emotional range and nightingale of South is offered the exact same consolation prize, which she rightfully rejects.
The logic of National recognition in India is broken, and the timeline proves it. It takes decades of unparalleled, multi-lingual brilliance from Southern icons to even register as a footnote in New Delhi.
This isn't just about music. It is the structural reality of the country. From the revenue formulas that tax the South to subsidize the North, to the gatekept corridors of the Union Cabinet, the highest judiciary, and central contracts, the pattern is unyielding. The South is expected to perform like a powerhouse, but is treated like a secondary territory.
In every single walk of life, the message remains the same: the South does the heavy lifting, but to India, it is just the bloody South. Let that sink in.
@_____sekhmet I was thinking the other way around. American men seem to have a very clear perception of workplace relationships, from what I've seen so far. Even Asians are very professional, it was Indian men in most cases 🌚
Some songs just hold a permanent piece of your heart. This song is pure, beautiful nostalgia wrapped in a melody that takes me right back. 🎶🥰

Tomorrow, when you walk into that polling booth, think of the Kerala we’ve grown up with. The food we share. The festivals we celebrate together. The friendships that never asked for religion or caste. The freedom to just be. This didn’t come easy. And it shouldn’t be taken for granted. So, go vote to protect what makes us… us!
Happy voting day, folks.
