The internet has changed considerably over the last decade!

It seems that every year, we give up a little more privacy, a little more ownership, and a little more control in exchange for convenience online.

With Chat Control advancing in Europe, and Android restricting app sharing even further, it feels like those changes are accelerating.

Inspired by Pavel @durov's contest on Telegram, I spent the past few weeks producing a short documentary exploring how we got here, why it matters, and what can actually be done about it.

During that journey, I also share why I've spent the last four years helping build @Qortal, a peer-to-peer network that offers a fundamentally different approach to the internet.

Whether you agree with my conclusions or not, I hope the documentary makes you look at today's internet from a different perspective.

The popular ice cream ‘Klondike bar’ has drastically reduced the thickness of their bar

The ice cream core is significantly thinner than it used to be. The new Shrinkflation bars feel roughly half as thick as the older versions

But that’s not all, The chocolate outer coating shell has also gotten thinner

Klondike officially labels its products as “Frozen Dairy Dessert” and can’t legally be called ice cream anymore

The FDA has a strict Standard of Identity for what can be called “Ice Cream”:

- Must contain at least 10% milkfat.
- Minimum levels of total milk solids, and more

Klondike bars fall below that 10% milkfat threshold

As much of our world collapses around us, one of the most paralyzing, demoralizing, debilitating misapprehensions is this idea that we have no agency.. that things are utterly hopeless, that we're irrevocably locked within a dying machine, with no solutions.

There are solutions.. and at their core, they revolve around one relatively simple principle:

We need to begin to break this total dependence on forces and factions that seem to despise us.
We need to become pioneers, innovators, and proactive doers, again.

Picture parallel communities and institutions springing up, gradually networking together, and creating very real alternatives, at long last.
The potential here should be obvious to all.

It's impressive and heartening to see what's being done by @Aarvoll_ and co, here. If this resonates, I strongly recommend taking a closer look, and considering supporting or somehow getting involved.
