After careful consideration, it has been decided that all committees of the All India Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, as well as all its frontal organisations, shall stand dissolved with immediate effect.

The party will undertake a comprehensive exercise of introspection, performance review and organisational assessment at every level. Based on the findings of this exercise, the organisational structure of the parent body and all frontal organisations will be reconstituted and announced in due course.

The party remains committed to strengthening its organisation and preparing it to meet future challenges with renewed vigour and purpose.

What transpired yesterday was not the act of a few unruly elements.

Governments are judged not only by what they do, but also by what they deliberately choose not to do.

Withdrawing an opposition MP’s security cover, refusing to deploy police despite clear warnings and allowing armed hooligans to operate with impunity reveals a disturbing truth.

This was not negligence. This was a conscious abdication of responsibility that paved the way for a premeditated act of political violence.

Less than 24 hours after the attack on @abhishekaitc yesterday, Shri @KBanerjee_AITC was attacked today while on his way to submit a deputation at Chanditala Police Station. He sustained a injury at the hands of BJP-backed miscreants.

How were these hooligans allowed to gather outside the police station? How could brick-batting take place in the presence of the police?

It has been 26 days since the election results were declared, yet post-poll violence continues unabated.

Yesterday's attack bore all the hallmarks of a State-sponsored and Centre-backed attempt to intimidate the Opposition.

When violence unfolds in full public view and the administration remains a mute spectator, it ceases to be a law-and-order failure and becomes a DELIBERATE ASSAULT ON DEMOCRACY ITSELF.

We will not be intimidated. We will continue to stand with the people and fight for an India where democracy prevails over fear and violence.
