Loved my chat with Sandra Miandra - first time being interviewed by another Sandra! We talked about the role payments plays in powering @spotify’s global experience, and how we’ve designed a system that adapts to culture, regulation, behaviour and technology across 184 markets.
🎙️ New #VoiceofMPE!

Had a great conversation with @karenmpd for @pymnts on the future of payments. 🌍 From local methods to global networks to AI-driven trust & identity — it’s all about giving users choice. Watch here: https://t.co/J1ar2MqIOO
What are the biggest shifts @Spotify has seen regarding how users want to pay for digital content, and how do those shifts influence Spotify’s plans for growth?
That’s the question that kicked off this conversation with @SandraAlzetta, who as VP and Global Head of Commerce & Customer Service at Spotify, knows the answer. She looks after their 696 million users, including 276 million subscribers, across 184 countries, who she says all have their preferred way to pay.
In a world where payments are as much about the product experience as they are about completing a transaction, Sandra says it all starts with user choice, because, in her words: “if we put in the payment methods people want to use, they will use them.”
That’s just a preview. One of the most fascinating parts of our conversation was how Spotify decides when to support new payment methods in a country. That’s when, in her worlds, Spotify starts painting doors.

🎉Spotify's Q2 2025 results are here: 15% revenue growth, 276M subscribers worldwide (up 30% from 1H24), and we just crossed 100 MILLION subs in Europe! So much to celebrate! 🎉
Spotify’s Q2 2025 results are here and it was another solid quarter for us. We hit over 100M subs in Europe, engagement increased, and we’re laying the right foundation for long-term growth. People are coming to Spotify, and staying. Grateful to the @Spotify team for all their work!
I’m looking forward to being at MAGSummit next week, spending time with John Drechny for our fireside chat. We’ll cover scaling payments around the word and what we’ve learned at @Spotify. Hope to see some of you there! #MAGSummit#Payments#Innovation
Our Q4 results are out and Spotify hit some huge milestones, including our first full year of profitability. I’ll share more detail on our investor call shortly, as well as a bit of what’s coming in 2025. Also - Spotify’s co-presidents Alex Norström & Gustav Söderström will be joining to share their POV, so look forward to a full house. Thanks to all Spotify teams around the world for a great year.
From forging stronger connections among artists, creators, and fans to fueling global culture through music, artists, and audiobooks, here's what you need to know about our $SPOT Q3 2024 earnings: https://t.co/G8orYLEFcz
My personal favourite from @AcquiredFM: the amazing podcast on @Visa - a must for any payment geek (and anyone else who enjoys a fantastic story)
https://t.co/4RwN5yACgR
@gilbert and @djrosent are the storytellers behind the extraordinary @AcquiredFM podcast. They spend hundreds of hours researching before they publish a single episode (my personal favorite: Nintendo). That investment of time is paying off: Spotify users have listened to more than 5.2 million hours of Acquired since 2019.
Today, more than 150 million (!) people listen to podcasts on Spotify. And thousands were in the audience this last night as Ben and David hosted a live event at San Francisco’s Chase Center. I decided to stop by and check it out myself….. can confirm that the podcast is just as good live as it is recorded 👍 video should be uploaded to Spotify soon.
URGENT! Pls share. The last chance to register to vote in the General Election is 11.59pm tomorrow Tue 18 June. Potentially 8m aren't registered at their current address. Here's 4 key facts...
1) You can do it online here https://t.co/i4FhJoAXfK
2) It's good for your finances. Not being on electoral roll can make it more difficult to be accepted for credit products like bank accounts or mortgages.
3) You can opt out of the 'Open Register' (which allows your info to be sold on) which will stop you getting junk mail marketing )
4) You'll need ID when you do vote (not to register) if you don't have it, you can get it free until Wed 26 June https://t.co/9bfL3hw3CV
Apple’s DMA response is a sad day for the industry. “It's not the Apple that once pushed the boundaries of technology and design. This is a company resting, not breaking any new ground, and turning its back on the principles that once made it the shining example of innovation.”
After sitting with our legal team to parse through the fine print of Apple's DMA announcement (that took a while), which is, at best vague and misleading, I wanted to share my thoughts.
While Apple has behaved badly for years, what they did yesterday represents a new low, even for them. See more info here: https://t.co/2lznqwYujY
Can’t recommend this strongly enough… the story of Visa - great research, entertaining delivery, and a reminder of the genius of the late Dee Hock

Spotify piloting Voice Translation, an AI powered tool that translates podcasts into additional languages in the podcaster’s voice, extending the creator’s reach.
Do you dream of a world where some of the top podcasts would be spoken in your native language? Well, that’s now possible. We’re excited to pilot Voice Translation, a groundbreaking feature powered by AI that translates podcasts into additional languages—all in the podcaster’s voice. https://t.co/BxiRCfN5HI
