These are new U.S. developments: a walking platform that opens its back, dumps a 10+ drone swarm in seconds, then fires its own self-guided munition. No soldier has to take the first 200–300 meters.

The race with China is already on. Beijing has been pairing robot dogs and humanoids with drones in live amphibious and urban drills since at least October 2025. Washington is answering with systems that walk the last mile, launch the swarm, and deliver the follow-on strike themselves.

Ukraine already proved the cheap version works. Uncrewed boats and ground robots now do the first look and the first shot so people don’t have to.

The mission set is changing: carry the drones to the last covered position, launch them in under 10 seconds, then shoot. Jobs that used to belong to the point man and the weapons squad.

This is becoming an official category for U.S. contractors — manned-unmanned teaming platforms that walk, carry, launch, and kill. China is building the same thing. Whoever fields it first owns the first 300 meters.
