Humor can add a lot to your speech, but it must fit you and your topic. If humor is appropriate to your topic, use it, but go for laughs that grow naturally out of your content. Avoid old, tired jokes that may not be appropriate or that everyone has heard before.

Frippβs Tips: As an exercise, I would practice reading your speech out loud. Pause for one second at a comma, two seconds at the end of a sentence, and three seconds after a paragraph. This is to develop the habit of pausing in your talk in the right places. Then breathe & smile!
