PM Carney appointed CPC MP Richard Martel to the Senate (Martel resigned his seat).

Under Criminal Code s. 119(1)(b): Anyone who 'corruptly gives or offers to a member of Parliament any office, place or employment in respect of anything done or to be done by that MP in their official capacity' is guilty of bribery (up to 14 years).

A Senate seat is literally an 'office/place'.If this was offered corruptly as a reward or inducement tied to Martel’s parliamentary actions, it fits the offence.

The law applies to everyone, including the Prime Minister.
