🚨 Rochdale and York City have released the following joint statement:
“This Saturday’s game brings an end to one of the most thrilling, exciting and unpredictable title races in football history. Both ourselves and Rochdale have the chance to write our names in National League history.
The National League is no longer a non-league competition. It is effectively a League 3, with fully professional clubs operating at a level equal to or higher than many of those in League 2.
We both understand how important this game is to both clubs and supporters. We both pledge now that whatever happens tomorrow, we will both continue to fight for 3UP.
Both clubs sit on over 100 points. One of us will have to fight once more in the National League Play-Offs. However, we both strongly believe that this shouldn’t have to be the case.
We call on the National League, Football Regulator, EFL and Premier League to come together immediately and resolve this issue, so that we do not have to highlight this injustice year after year.
For both sets of supporters attending the Crown Oil Arena this weekend, we say thank you for being with us all season. The passion you’ve shown for both clubs has been felt across the world. This game will be seen far and wide. We want to showcase this league for all its potential. Keep your support in the stands, not on the pitch, and let’s all protect the game we love.
Thank you!
Rochdale AFC & York City FC”
BREAKING: 'People Against Genocide' have abseiled through the roof of Elbit's arms factory in Leicester.
They're breaking the ceiling of the clean room used to make key parts for Israeli military drones.
Contaminating the clean room can knock it out of use for several months.
This is something I have been worrying a lot about. We have psychopaths waging this war. We have seen Netanyahu gleefully carry out a genocide in Gaza reducing it to a nuclear bomb site. Why would he not go further now in Iran? There has been absolutely no consequences for his war crimes in Gaza. Trump has only assisted them. This has got to stop. As the citizens of the world we have to stop this. They can not be allowed to carry out a nuclear strike on the millions of innocent people of Iran. These are our fellow human beings, regardless of their leaders. This is insanity.
When the Knesset yesterday, passed the law approving the death penalty for Palestinians ONLY, they popped champagne bottles in the chamber as they applauded. You read that correctly.
Not your problem?
It’s complicated?
STILL SILENT?
SILENCE IS COMPLICITY.
I’m claiming that as the first Scotland World Cup Away top up Machu Picchu 🏴
Which makes me want to start a thread of Scotland tops in unusual places - comment below cos if you don’t I’ll look like billy no mates 👇🤝
The massacre of the girls elementary school pupils (ages 8 to12) in Iran, now stands at one hundred and eighty five.
Any person attempting to justify this unprovoked obscenity is a psychopath.
The joy sparked by Scotland’s qualification for the World Cup is a perfect illustration of why expanding the tournament is good for football, not bad. Make it a World Cup of 100 nations!!
Their celebration shows that, for me anyway, the World Cup is not just about the favourites or the powerhouses, it’s about the entire footballing community feeling represented on the biggest stage.
For smaller or less frequent participants, reaching the World Cup is almost like winning a trophy in itself. It was wonderful to see the explosion of pride, positive national unity, football joy from all quarters, no matter what age, race, sexuality. That is precisely what keeps the sport alive. And by the way, we don’t have enough of that. Why limit that experience to a handful of countries?
Every new team adds a fresh story, a unique style, a different cultural expression of the game. Fans love underdog narratives, just think of Iceland or Morocco. Or Uzbekistan, Cape Verde.
When more teams qualify, more federations invest, more young players dream, more governments offer support. I am convinced broader participation lifts the global level, not lowers it.
On top of that, if the World Cup is truly global, the door shouldn’t be half-closed. Scotland’s celebrations are a reminder: nations with long histories, passionate fans, rich traditions deserve more opportunities to be part of the world’s biggest sporting event.
The tournament isn’t, or shouldn’t be, only about who wins it, or should not be limited to a Euro-centric vision of football. For me it’s about what it means emotionally to millions. The more nations involved, the more of those moments we get.
@ibroxrocks It’s refreshing to hear some decent punditry from unbiased channels. Former pros who can see what’s happening who have no affiliation to the club at all. No offence to Falkirk but we shouldn’t be praying to beat them on Sunday to climb up the table a notch or two
