@brightkknight@anchor_269 I said it once again and let me reiterate it. I never said that Dhoni is a perfect batter and he never played bad. My point from the start is about this match. According to me this match was lost before he came out to bat. The point is that you can't just blame him for this loss.
@brightkknight@anchor_269 20/2 in powerplay. Rohit 4(13), dhawan 9(28), Rahane 2(10), rayudu 20(40) 4 batters in the top order failed. Kohli came in to bat in 4 over. This is 25th over. Kohli was in good form. A lot of times someone else is playing attacking and Kohli is defending. Can't blame him
@imbusinessman10@kdr_1509 Virat Kohli has a hundred and a fifty in knockout of world cups. But you won't consider those innings because you will only pick a certain area where he hasn't performed. You think pant is better than him. This shows your cricket knowledge. No point in arguing with you.
@princeforreason Both teams have problem in final. With team A most bases are covered but ashish nehra injury made sreesanth play.
Team B dominated the tournament but not much variation in spin and pandya's injury created a void. Team A has more bowling options, batting depth so Team A
@SamRoy84@Mohakagarwal102 The turn is different on different venue. Some venue it turns with the new ball some venue the best time bat is against the new ball. But mostly in subcontinent conditions helps top order batter
@Vipintiwari952 He has become a no 6-7 batter who can bowl as well. The problem is that we have another player with similar role. Washington Sundar has also become a batting allrounder.
@cookedsnowflake Rahane has played quiet a few match winning innings but please judge player by their stats and not while watching the match. And even though you think he isn't a great batter, why hate a player
@Mohakagarwal102@SamRoy84 If you are playing in subcontinent then it is different because old ball turns a lot and then the lower order batting becomes tough. If you are playing in england then it depends on the weather respective where you bat. Whenever the condition changes that batter will deal with it
@anchor_269 Great debate here. When I talk about this match that the top order is more at fault than Dhoni you talk about other matches. When I give you example of other matches you come back to this match and say he was defending at 130/4. In a match where everyone failed except kohli.
@anchor_269 The above NZ match has 79/4 in 24 overs and target is 304 in bilateral match. World Cup final match had 114/3 in 21 overs with 275 to chase in a final of world cup infront of home crowd.
you said specifically about finishes while chasing now you want top order collapse in chase
@RcbKa1998@RR_for_LIFE When pant came to bat the score was 81-3 so the lead was 259. If he had gotten out then chance are that they would have barely crossed 300 run mark. His innings was important and was under pressure, with wickets falling from other end
@RR_for_LIFE Best WK batter to play for in India in test cricket. Currently top 3 batter for india in test cricket and definitely in top 10 in world test cricket
@anchor_269 A finisher job is to finish the chase or finish the innings. It's not about rescuing the innings after total failure of top order. Don't confuse it. World Cup final match is the chasing. A world cup final in India. Most pressure match ever in his entire life.
@anchor_269 A lot of matches Dhoni has scored runs when top order failed. Couple of matches which comes to my mind immediately is one against Aus 2013 scored 139 and against pakistan when he scored 113. Also the worldcup final
@randomcricfacts I am not saying he should be in the side immediately but soon Rohit and Kohli will retire. Pant can have a chance to play in this side then
@anchor_269 Everyone has different approach to the game. If he was so bad at it then why did they continue to play him. A team total less than 100 in 24 overs with 4 wickets down, current RR 3+ and RR is 8+. And again same thing why did top order not try to win instead of defending.
@udit_buch Specially the pace attack under kohli was peak indian bowling attack ever. Bumrah, Shami, ishant, umesh, Bhuvi and eventually siraj. If someone ask what has kohli done as captain in test cricket just show him the dominance of this pace attack under his captain around the globe
@anchor_269 But matches like these which was lost even before he came in to bat. I don't think a single player should be blamed until the match is lost just because of that single player. Weather win or loss, it's a team event and a single player can never be blamed for it.
@anchor_269 Dhoni is to be blamed for a match which was lost because of finishers job not done right. For 2019 semi final he should have finished that match. I remember a T20 match against WI when he couldn't score a single against bravo. He should be blamed for 2019 worldcup england match
