25 जून, 1975 — जब लोकतंत्र को कांग्रेस ने कुचला!

25 जून 1975 भारतीय लोकतंत्र का काला दिन था। इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट द्वारा इंदिरा गांधी का चुनाव अवैध ठहराए जाने के बाद सत्ता बचाने के लिए देश पर आपातकाल थोप दिया गया।

मौलिक अधिकार निलंबित कर दिए गए, प्रेस पर सेंसरशिप लगा दी गई, विपक्षी नेताओं, पत्रकारों और हजारों लोकतंत्र समर्थकों को जेलों में ठूंस दिया गया। असहमति को अपराध बना दिया गया और पूरे देश को भय व दमन के साए में धकेल दिया गया।

कांग्रेस और इंदिरा गांधी की तानाशाही सोच ने लोकतंत्र को बेड़ियों में जकड़ दिया। जबरन नसबंदी, राजनीतिक गिरफ्तारियां, नागरिक स्वतंत्रताओं का हनन और बेगुनाहों की मौतें उस दौर की दर्दनाक सच्चाई थीं।

21 महीनों के संघर्ष के बाद 1977 में जनता ने जवाब दिया और लोकतंत्र की पुनर्स्थापना हुई।

11 जुलाई 2024 को भारत सरकार ने 25 जून को “संविधान हत्या दिवस” घोषित किया, ताकि लोकतंत्र की रक्षा के लिए संघर्ष करने वाले लाखों सेनानियों को श्रद्धांजलि दी जा सके।

On June 25, 1975, the light of Indian democracy was forcefully extinguished by a single midnight decree. The imposition of the Emergency effectively dismantled the foundational framework of the Constitution, freezing fundamental rights, cancelling general elections, and silencing the judiciary. For 21 gruelling months, the world’s largest democracy was plunged into an era of absolute authoritarian control, where dissent was treated as treason, and the state's power went entirely unchecked.

Beyond the corridors of political power, this dark chapter inflicted unspeakable physical and emotional horrors upon ordinary citizens. From the brutality of forced mass sterilisations and violent slum demolitions to systemic police torture and an airtight censorship blackout, the machinery of the state was weaponised against its own people. Everyday lives were fractured overnight as over one lakh dissenters, journalists, and political leaders were thrown into prisons without trials or charges.

As we mark Samvidhan Hatya Diwas, remembering these historical truths becomes a sacred duty to ensure such compliance and silence never return. The following snapshots lay bare the terrifying costs of tyranny and honour the resilient voices, both prominent leaders and unsung heroes operating from the underground, who risked everything to rebuild the democratic fabric of the nation.

आपातकाल भारतीय लोकतंत्र के इतिहास का वह काला अध्याय है, जब संविधान की आत्मा को कुचलने का प्रयास किया गया।

25 जून 1975 की मध्यरात्रि को भारतीय लोकतंत्र पर स्वतंत्रता के बाद का सबसे बड़ा आघात किया गया। सत्ता बचाने के लिए देश पर आपातकाल थोपा गया और लोकतांत्रिक संस्थाओं तथा नागरिक स्वतंत्रताओं को कुचलने का प्रयास हुआ।

यह दिन हमें लोकतांत्रिक मूल्यों की रक्षा और स्वतंत्रता की महत्ता का स्मरण कराता है। उन सभी लोकतंत्र सेनानियों को नमन, जिन्होंने कठिन परिस्थितियों में भी लोकतंत्र की रक्षा के लिए संघर्ष किया।

During today’s hearing, when Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi mentioned the matter, the Court clearly stated that it would not intervene in the election process....The Court also indicated that the matter of today’s mentioning would be considered as concluded for the day and that any remaining submissions could be heard tomorrow. It further observed that it would not intervene in the electoral process and would hear any further requests or clarifications on the next day."

आज दिल्ली शहरी आश्रय सुधार बोर्ड (DUSIB) की 36वीं बैठक में लिया गया यह ऐतिहासिक निर्णय माननीय गृह मंत्री श्री अमित शाह जी द्वारा अंतिम रूप दी गई ‘दिल्ली स्लम एवं झुग्गी झोपड़ी पुनर्वास एवं पुनर्स्थापन नीति, 2026’ के अनुरूप है।

अब तक पुनर्वास के लिए वर्ष 2015 को आधार वर्ष माना जाता था। इस महत्वपूर्ण निर्णय के तहत पात्रता की सीमा बढ़ाकर 1 जनवरी 2025 कर दी गई है। इससे दिल्ली के लाखों झुग्गीवासी परिवारों को लाभ मिलेगा।

यह निर्णय आदरणीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री @narendramodi जी के गरीब कल्याण के संकल्प को नई गति देने वाला है। इसके माध्यम से लाखों परिवारों को स्कूल, स्वास्थ्य केंद्र, आंगनवाड़ी, खेल मैदान और अन्य सभी आवश्यक सुविधाओं से युक्त आधुनिक आवास उपलब्ध कराने का मार्ग प्रशस्त होगा, ताकि हर परिवार सम्मान, सुरक्षा और बेहतर भविष्य के साथ जीवन जी सके।

बैठक में कैबिनेट सहयोगी श्री आशीष सूद जी सहित सभी संबंधित विभागों के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी उपस्थित रहे।

The Supreme Court does not intervene in an ongoing electoral process. In fact, even the High Court does not intervene in such matters through a writ petition. The bar on the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court and High Courts in election matters flows from Article 329 of the Constitution. The right to vote, in this context, is a statutory right..."
