The Moon Child carries symbolism of Griffith's unfrozen humanity and innocence resurfacing. When Griffith says it must be the Child's feelings at the Hill of Swords, it just reminds me of what he always did as a human: downplaying his humanity/emotions to appear strong.
I feel empathy for him, I understand him, I see myself in him, I want to fuck him, I pity him, I love to analyze him, He makes me cry, He makes me smile, He pisses me off, He turns me on, I hate him, I love him...I want to protect him, I want to hurt him, I want to nurture him..
The argument that Moonlight boy is a separate entity doesn't hold. They are the same yet different. Griffith treats it as a parasite but he's unnaware the child is his own spiritual self. The fact he could cry, feel nostalgia and loneliness comes from within, not alien.
