Yesterday, I stopped at a small shop to buy bread because I hadn’t eaten all day.

I brought out my money, but the man behind the counter looked at me and said, “Keep your money. Take the bread.”

I thought he was joking, so I laughed.

He just smiled and said, “Someone once did this for me when I was broke. I never forgot it.”

I stood there for a few seconds because I honestly didn’t know what to say.

It’s crazy how something that costs you almost nothing can mean everything to someone else.

We really don’t know what people are going through.
