BREAKING: Doug Ford FIRES BACK at Trumpโs Canada tariffs by cutting U.S. companies out of Ontario contracts โ and ripping up its Starlink deal.
A petulant Donald Trump wants a trade war with Canada. Now, Ontario Premier Doug Ford just showed him exactly what that actually costs.
Responding to Trump's new 50% tariffs on Canadian goods, Ford announced Ontario is banning all U.S.-based companies from participating in the province's government procurement contracts, effective immediately.
This isn't small change: Ontario and its agencies spend approximately $30 billion annually on procurement, layered on top of a massive $200 billion infrastructure plan. American businesses just lost access to tens of billions of dollars in potential revenue.
"They only have President Trump to blame," Ford said bluntly.
But Ford didn't stop there. In a move dripping with well-deserved symbolism, Ontario is completely tearing up its contract with Starlink โ Elon Musk's satellite internet company. "It's done, it's gone," Ford declared.
The message is unmistakable: Ontario isn't interested in enriching companies tied to an administration actively waging economic war against Canadian workers and families.
"We won't award contracts to people who enable and encourage economic attacks on our province and our country," Ford said.
And Ford isn't going it alone. He's calling on all 444 municipalities across Ontario to adopt the same procurement ban, with cities like Brampton, led by Mayor Patrick Brown, already stepping up to join the fight.
This is shaping up as a coordinated, province-wide โ and potentially nationwide โ economic response, with Ford explicitly framing it as part of "Team Canada's" opening salvo against Trump's tariffs.
Let's be clear about what's happening here.
Trump picked this fight, hitting Canadian goods with punishing tariffs over shifting, often contradictory justifications, from wildfire smoke to retaliatory grievances over alcohol sales.
Ontario isn't backing down or begging for mercy. It's hitting back, strategically and forcefully, by cutting American companies out of tens of billions in Canadian taxpayer dollars.
Trump wanted Canada to come "running back," as he put it. Instead, he's getting a united, defiant response that's going to cost American businesses dearly.
And meanwhile, who is going to ultimately pay that 50% tariff on imported Canadian goods? American consumers, thatโs who.
There goes Trump, driving up inflation once again

He destroyed his own country and a 100 year old friendship and alliance. There is no coming back from this is there....really is there? We are kidding ourselves if we think this will be fine.
To my fellow Americans: Please listen.
Despite the attacks, distractions, and false narratives, Canada ๐จ๐ฆ remains one of Americaโs closest and most faithful friends.
Canadians have stood with us in our darkest hoursโfrom helping Americans escape during the Iran hostage crisis, to responding to natural disasters, to opening their homes and airports to us after 9/11.
Canada is not only our neighbor. It is one of our most important trading partners, our ally, and our friend.
If Americans could choose any country in the world to share our longest border with, we would choose Canada every time.
That is the truthโand it is time we stood up for our friends.
Taking ๐บ๐ธ booze off Liquor Mart shelves is having an impact. If Trump wants to negotiate an end to the trade war he started, weโre happy to get a fair deal. Until then, the US booze stays off the shelves. Thank you for buying ๐จ๐ฆ and thank you for your attention to this message!!!

Wab Kinew just fired back at those American Congress ambulance chasers hunting for cheap Instagram clicks instead of doing their actual jobs. While real heroes โ including American firefighters โ battle our wildfires and save lives, these politicians politicize tragedy for likes.
No place for that during a state of emergency. Canada stands strong, handles our forests, and helps our neighbours. Proud of leaders who put people first.
