Once again, Kompany decides not to play a single youth player – not even against one of the weakest teams in the entire tournament. Adam Aznou remains on the bench, with Guerreiro preferred instead.
This is a deeply disappointing signal and increasingly calls into question whether Kompany is the right coach to help shape Bayern’s future. At some point the the club has to step in when a coach consistently acts against a publicly communicated and structurally vital strategy, it becomes a serious issue for the club’s long-term outlook. Allowing this development to continue is not only a risk for the sporting perspective of the club, but also threatens the club’s identity and undermines the credibility of its strategic direction.
