We own property there, run a few businesses, and travel back and forth every year. When we return to our homes in the U.S., we enjoy benefits like Global Entry because we followed the legal process.

That’s the difference: legal immigrants get opportunities and benefits that those who bypass the system don’t.

That’s part of what makes America great.

Many Black Americans now own second homes in Latin America too. Did they flee? Or are they simply taking advantage of the opportunities that come with being law-abiding, hardworking American citizens?
