West Bengal’s 2026 budget is designed to revive investor confidence and create hashtag#GCC (Global Capability Centre) jobs by introducing a ₹5,000-crore investment framework, AI and semiconductor missions, and startup incentives. The new hashtag#BJP government’s main challenge will be overcoming the legacy of “syndicate raj,” poor infrastructure, and investor distrust, but its solutions include ease-of-doing-business reforms, land bank creation, and AI-enabled training for high-skilled employment.
Key Budget Measures for GCC Job Creation
GCC Policy: Formal framework to attract multinational corporations and shift Bengal from outsourcing to high-value global business functions.
₹5,000-crore Investment Promotion Framework: Cluster-based incentives, including stamp duty reimbursement, electricity duty waiver, and expedited clearances.
AI Mission: Building an inclusive AI ecosystem with incentives for data centres and hyperscale cloud computing.
Semiconductor Unit at Durgapur: Aligning Bengal with India’s national semiconductor ambitions.
Startup Policy: Incubation fund of ₹40 crore and venture capital fund of ₹60 crore to boost entrepreneurship.
Ease of Doing Business Reforms: Projects above ₹100 crore exempt from local body approvals; expert committee to simplify regulations.
---New Government’s To-Do List
Restore investor trust: End extortion and syndicate charges that plagued the previous government.
Infrastructure upgrade: New airport at Kalyani, logistics hubs in Siliguri, and industrial parks in Durgapur/Asansol.
Skill development: AI-enabled training, education, and global-standard certifications to absorb youth into GCCs.
Land bank creation: Reclaim unutilised industrial land from PSUs for new projects.
Women empowerment: Reservation in jobs and financial aid schemes to increase workforce participation.
---->Difficulties the New Govt May Face
Legacy of syndicate raj: Extortion and political interference discouraged global players earlier.
Investor skepticism: Multinationals wary of Bengal’s past instability.
Infrastructure lag: Kolkata still behind Bengaluru/Hyderabad in IT logistics and connectivity.
Fiscal constraints: Budget deficit at 2.91% of GSDP limits spending flexibility.
Implementation risk: Semiconductor and AI projects require flawless execution to avoid delays.
--->Solutions Proposed
Transparent governance: Single-window clearance, strict anti-extortion measures.
Global branding: Position Kolkata as a hub for AI, semiconductors, and GCCs.
Public-private partnerships: Leverage private capital for infrastructure and training.
Regional hubs: Develop Siliguri (logistics), Durgapur (semiconductors), and Kolkata (IT/startups) as specialized clusters.
Inclusive growth: Link welfare schemes (Bharosa Karmosuchi) with skill development to ensure employability.
The path forward for Bengal lies in global integration (GCCs, AI, semiconductors) combined with local empowerment (jobs, startups, women participation).

On the solemn occasion of Balidan Divas of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukhopadhyay, I humbly recall the towering legacy of his father, Sir Asutosh Mukerjee — the “Tiger of Bengal” — whose vision for education and culture shaped generations.
In 1914, Sir Asutosh Mukerjee, along with his illustrious student Sir Jagadbandhu, founded the Jagadbandhu Institution at Ballygung kolkata. This temple of learning nurtured countless minds, including myself as i was a ex Student of this temple.
As we honor Dr. Syama Prasad Mukhopadhyay’s sacrifice and his lifelong commitment to Bengal’s culture and India’s unity, I humbly request your kind attention towards rejuvenating and strengthening the Jagadbandhu Institution. Reviving this historic institution would be a fitting tribute to Bengal’s educational heritage and a beacon for future generations.
May this initiative inspire Bengal’s youth to carry forward the ideals of knowledge, sacrifice, and service to society.
I am proud of my career as i passed from Ballygung Jagadbandhu Institution and what I am now it is all from this temple where i got leraning ABCD.
My request to @SamikBJP dada @paulagnimitra1 di and Suvendhu dathe school condition is very poor ex government didnot see this and was busy for syndicate and teachers stuffs they were also cornered . Now please make our school again a heritage of kolkata for Sir Asutosh Mukerjee and his Son.

@narendramodi ji Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee dedicated his life to preserving the culture and identity of West Bengal. As Vice‑Chancellor of Calcutta University, he championed Bengali language and literature, and as a national leader, he envisioned Bengal as a pillar of India’s unity and progress.
Today, that vision continues. At Tarakeswar, new development works are being launched under the leadership of You. These initiatives blend modern infrastructure with Bengal’s spiritual and cultural heritage, ensuring that growth does not come at the cost of tradition.
Your presence in Kolkata reflects a commitment to rejuvenating Bengal — strengthening its role as a bridge between Purba & Paschim Bharat, and aligning Bengal’s cultural pride with India’s national development journey.
Bengal’s story is not just about heritage; it is about building a future where culture and progress walk hand in hand.
