This is quality research that should be reviewed and internalized by those involved with superintendent search committees. Equity matters for everyone.
The latest @WeAreILO Superintendent Research Project shows leadership paths for #WomenLeadingEd are more limited in some regions than others. Where you are regionally impacts how far women advance in education leadership!
In the Northeast, women again hold over 50% of district superintendencies, and most are women of color. At 54%, this is a step forward from last year!
In other regions, the picture changes. Men are 2.5X more likely to hold superintendencies in the Southeast than women—and 6X more likely than women of color.
These differential outcomes expose the need for concerted efforts from all leaders to undo the barriers and bias that keeps talented #WomenLeadingEd from reaching their highest potential.
Lasting change starts with transparency. We’ll keep using the Superintendent Research Project to track progress and continue pushing for equality through @WomenLeadingEd.
We’re committed to advancing women in education leadership, ensuring that talent—not bias—decides who leads our schools.
