Karmelo Anthony inserted himself under the rival Memorial High School tent during a rain delay at the Frisco track meet. 
When told to leave—by Austin Metcalf and others—he didn’t just refuse. 
He escalated with threats: “Touch me and see what happens,” while reaching into his bag where the knife was. 
Then “Punch me and see what happens.” 
Metcalf pushed him. 
Anthony pulled a knife and stabbed him once in the chest, killing him.

Texas Penal Code § 9.31(b)(4) is clear: self-defense is off the table if you provoked the confrontation, unless you clearly abandon it first. 

Anthony didn’t abandon shit—he baited, armed himself illegally for a school event, and delivered a lethal strike over a seating dispute and a push. 
A single chest stab isn’t “stopping a threat”; it’s ending a life you helped create the conditions for.

This wasn’t two equals squaring up. 
Metcalf was unarmed. 
Anthony brought the knife, issued the challenges, and chose the nuclear option. 
That’s not reasonable fear of death or serious injury—it’s premeditated readiness to murder if anyone called his bluff. 
The provocation doctrine exists precisely to stop thugs from engineering “self-defense” scenarios like this.

The race-baiting and sob stories around Anthony (fundraising, familyy moves, “he warned them”) are pathetic distractions. 
A kid is dead because another kid played gangster at a high school track meet. 
Actions have consequences. 
Anthony should be convicted of murder and sent away for a long time. 
Anything less mocks justice for Austin Metcalf and rewards the exact behavior that destroys communities.
