@marcuschown I'm glad that has been her experience however I watched my mum die slowly with faecal vomiting that could not be controlled despite best efforts of the palliative and hospice teams. Mum's death was prolonged & distressing for her and us.I am an oncology nurse & it traumatised me.

@doctor_oxford Usually...... My mum suffered with faecal vomiting for weeks despite the best efforts of palliative and hospice care. It was traumatic for her and for us watching. Her death was long, drawn out and difficult. She was not sedated. She suffered for weeks. That's what stays with me.

@nohandsup It's a degree. It's not meant to easy. Nursing isn't easy. Increasingly nurses have more responsibility. To be called a profession you need a degree that will stand you in good stead for the role you will be in.

@DrCalumMiller We were blessed to have a Dr discuss fully a DNR with my mum who was dying from ovarian cancer. He was open, honest and clear. We did not hesitate in agreeing (by we I mean my mother and myself). It was appropriate in her circumstances.

@MarinaPurkiss My mum died with the same thing (small bowel obstruction secondary to ovarian cancer)over a period of weeks despite having multiple interventions. It was the most horrific thing to watch and she knew she was dying. It was a long and protracted death and she suffered 😥

@mlchealth @policyni I waited nearly 8 yrs for surgery (gynae). As a result of the wait my surgery ended up being much more extensive than was originally planned. 8 years of pain and terrible symptoms. Yet the HSC claims much shorter wait times.

@RCN_NI It is unbelievable that once again our members could be forced to take industrial action to get a pay rise. They have worked tirelessly in a broken system to try to deliver for patients . Their reward ? No payrise yet and a suggestion they may have to accept less. Just No
