@johnnieaustrian Perhaps, but that doesn't mean that "making a public political statement is obviously what they wanted". They did not intend to make any public statement, even if they ended up doing so accidentally. If that was their intention, the motion would have been to release a statement.

@johnnieaustrian It's a political decision, just not a statement. We do occasionally have motions to release certain statements (and I'm sure we'll have one about the queen tabled soon, and I'm guessing a statement supporting the queen would pass), but this wasn't one. And definitely not public.

@johnnieaustrian Actually this was not meant to be a public political statement at all, it was meant to be an interior decorating choice. Someone opposed to the decision leaked it to the press; if they hadn't, nobody outside the MCR would have ever known about this.

@Nean61170806 So there's a difference between tabling it and writing it. Anyone can write a motion, but everything has to then be sent to the secretary and be tabled by the president. The president is obligated to table every motion sent to the secretary. The article does later say that.

@JulieFranklinB2 He isn't responsible for it, he was obligated to bring forward the motion (written by others) in his position as MCR president. He was a neutral voice in the debate. Sincerely, someone who did defend replacing the poster.
