This is a bittersweet day for me, because two years ago today I sent my first query. Since then, I've:
π written three additional books
βοΈ sent 121 queries
π received 97 rejections
π gotten 12 requests
No yeses yet, but I have to believe it'll happen someday.

My goal for NaNo is just to write every day! We'll see how it goes and how far behind I am Thanksgiving week, when I usually have to make up like 10k per day because I've been slacking. βοΈ π
I keep saying this! I just want to know which of my ideas to work on. I can't wait to get an agent to bounce ideas off (but I'm also still grateful for my critique group).
Wouldnβt it be cool if you could post a mock-query for your new project somewhere and agents / publishing pros could tell you whether the premise is worth pouring all your energy (and agonizing) intoβBEFORE you spent years on making it the best you can? π

Today I received a phenomenal email with the subject line: "Taking a Cat Out on a Leash." It was from a student I'd never met, who heard from another teacher that I take my cat for walks outside and wanted tips for her own cat. I love that I'm the resident cat leash expert π
@KyraMNelson That's such a good analogy. My first rejection was a lot easier than my almost 100th (with book 4). I keep berating myself for "not being used to it by now," but it does get harder and harder to take because there are fewer opportunities left!
