Question for today: do you have any unusual metaphors/analogies that you use in science?
I teach active loading of the phloem as people trying to get into a nightclub...
@cravenscience1 Immune response after vaccination is like a chocolate factory opening up again after a Christmas break. They can begin making chocolates again immediately and in great quantities as they already have all the correctly shaped molds and machinery(as opposed to starting from scrath)
@DrBearScience@nearpod I use it for all my lessons. I upload my PowerPoint slides in as the info slides and then add videos, phet animations and activities such as collaborate board, quiz, open Q etc... to test understanding. It means they can do everything in one place and I can monitor engagement.
@DrBearScience Yes, Iโd highly recommend Nearpod as a whole teaching tool. Excellent AFL opportunities and students canโt just opt out of interacting with the lesson.
@DrBearScience Have you tried Nearpod or Edpuzzle to play videos through? You can add questions for students to answer so you can clearly see who has watched it and whether they have understood the content. Both are free online programs.
If you are teaching live lessons, I cannot recommend Nearpod highly enough as a one-stop shop for delivering the lesson content. The free version is brilliant but has limited storage. Get the platinum version for free here https://t.co/zbF79ABuTF
