As a father to the people of Taraba and a leader committed to the growth and protection of the younger generation, we appeal to you for urgent intervention in an issue that is threatening the future of our young women and the integrity of our state’s entertainment industry.
Mr. Diesebe S. Bala Donga, along with certain other pageant organizers, has been repeatedly accused of engaging in unethical practices, notably the exploitation of young, aspiring beauty queens through what has now become known as “sex for crown” schemes. There are disturbing reports of girls being pimped to men under threats and manipulation, all in the name of pageantry. If this is left unchecked, this will not only damage the lives of these innocent girls but also tarnish the image of Taraba State and the credibility of the entire entertainment industry. These harmful narratives are already spreading and the longer we remain silent, the deeper the damage becomes. Your Excellency, the pageant industry in Taraba needs urgent reform. It must be redefined as a platform that empowers, uplifts and prepares young women for leadership not one that exploits their vulnerability. And we believe in your commitment to youth development, women empowerment and social justice. And so, we humbly ask for your support and swift action in addressing this matter. The future of many young girls depends on it.
