@kellysnow_ksu I love the idea of RAFT writing and think it will be super cool to use with my second graders! It is such a cool way to encourage creativity as well as engage students.
@RosritaM Rosie, I think it's so cool you're already using RAFT writing in your classes. My CT uses something very similar and it's so cool to see how much the students enjoy it while also being pushed out of their comfort zone.
@AnnaHaddon1 Anna, I love this idea! It would make a great poster! I love how short and concise it is, yet is a great reminder on how to use context clues!
@kellysnow_ksu Kelly, I totally agree with you! I think that if we work to teach students root words, prefixes, and affixes that they will be able to better understand the meaning of these words and similar words.
#KSUECE4410#booksnapweek2 I have always wondered about giving feedback and how to do so in a timely manner for summative assessments. Technology could surely help get it back in a timelier fashion but how do you ensure students have the time to take the feedback and apply it?
@RosritaM My high school teacher would have us use socrative and I thought it was great. However, she had us working in groups and the data came back skewed because it wasn't a good representation on the whole class' understanding. I wonder if there is a similar more helpful tool to use.
@AnnaHaddon1 Anna, I think this is such a cool activity! The students really get into it and enjoy the assignment. I think it's a cool twist to incorporate technology by having them type up their letter to help them work on their typing skills as well.
@EthanTheTeacher Ethan,
I totally agree with you. I think it is so important to build background knowledge on your students to be able to draw upon window and mirror opportunities in your lessons. This not only motivates them but builds the relationship between teacher and student.
@AnnaHaddon1 Anna,
I completely agree with your observation. It wasn't until high school that I had a teacher use instructional time to teach us how to dissect visual aids such as charts and graphs. I always thought they were fluff but they are in fact a great way for visual learners to learn
