It's in print today!! The gorgeous @nytimesbooks review of THE GARDEN that makes me teary with joy every time I read it. All my gratitude to Claire Oshetsky. I think I shall frame it.
New reviews for THE GARDEN! A star from BOOKLIST!:
"Beams' second outing is a taut, tense, absorbing Gothic tale that deftly explores the complexity of women's inner lives and their varied relationships to motherhood."

I loved writing this graphic essay about George Elliston (1883-1946), a poet and crime reporter (so-called “paper doll”) whose name was actually George (not a pseudonym), and who I assumed was a man!

Thanks @jill_christman for staying up past your bedtime last night to wow my class with your insights and humor and grace. Next time you’re coming in person, right?
🌟THE GARDEN got its first prepub review, and it's a star from @KirkusReviews!! 🌟 "Like an overgrown garden—untamable, lush, and wild in ways lovely and terrifying." https://t.co/xqglX5CM7n
@jaminlin I’ve never done 3 weeks—like you max out at 2. It’d be really hard—but if I knew I had no childcare on the horizon and could put a big dent in a project, I’d take the extra week. It’s so hard to write w/o childcare! And that frustration is worse than being gone a little extra.
“It’s easy to compare yourself with others in publishing, but that’s a fool’s game.” Agent Michelle Brower of @trellislit recommends that writers eschew competitiveness and focus on their individual writing journeys: https://t.co/ag80S9fDGV
