@jamesgarside_ It’s funny how some things lead you on a path that you might not have otherwise gone down. Seems you’ve done well and have an interesting career because of it! I found an interest in marketing after graduating and realised my skills and interests aligned. Luckily I enjoy it!

@jamesgarside_ 2/2 up instead of Masters (for now). Sociolinguistics is so absorbing, if a bit of a wormhole! I’m similar with my accent. I went to a festival in Scotland a few years back and was chatting to people I was camped near when they asked what part of Scotland I was from. 🤦🏻‍♀️

@jamesgarside_ I would’ve struggled in your shoes! I studied locally but my accent still wasn’t understood sometimes, despite it not being as strong as some! Always enjoyed studying sociolinguistics at uni. Have you looked into it? Would’ve been interesting to note how your accent changed.
