Excited to share my 1st PhD paper!

We show that targeted supplementary feeding positively impacted the demography & growth of a threatened population, but not how we expected!

It is FINALLY here!
#SeabirdsCount results are out, and the book is available to buy.
It is the most comprehensive survey of Britain & Ireland’s breeding seabirds in 20 years.
Led by JNCC & partner organisations, it provides estimates of 25 of our regularly breeding seabirds.
Coming soon - #SeabirdsCount, 4th census of Britain & Ireland’s internationally important breeding seabirds populations, with over 10,000 sites & 25 species surveyed between 2015-2021. Sign up for pre-publication offer until 10 November https://t.co/SqZy0iSvNa
🚨 FREE TRAINING ALERT 🚨
Upcoming #VSAS mentor and surveyor courses taking place in Weymouth this November. Find out more about how you can get involved in surveying #seabirds at sea⬇️ #Ornithology#ESAS
With increasing reports of dead and sick guillemots and shoreline foraging, could people tag their reports with #AukWreck2
Hope this isn’t tempting fate but useful to establish this now to help monitor progress. A “wreck” is a large mortality of #seabirds.

Incredibly happy to say that I passed my PhD viva with minor corrections! A huge thank you to my examiners, Dr. @anapayopayo and Prof. Brian Polagye, and to all of my supervisors for all the support over the years! @UoABioSci@mastscot@EMEC_Ltd
IMPORTANT REPORT: #StateOfTheWorldsBirds highlights widespread declines and offers potential solutions to this crisis
57% of #seabirds species are declining. The report covers bycatch, invasive mammalian predators and the new NACES #MPA@BirdLife_News#ornithology

If you're interested in evidence-based conservation, management evaluation and demography, make sure to come along to my talk TODAY at 17:15 in E2, or come chat to me during the rest of the conference! @ECCB_2022
Thrilled to have passed my PhD viva after a truly enjoyable 4yrs studying 🏴#chough conservation!
Huge thanks to my wonderful supervisors @janemreid1@DavyMcCracken Eric Bignal &Pat Monaghan for their support,& @RobThomas14 @pt98765 for an interesting & encouraging viva! #PhDone
🚨New Paper! Effects of non-random juvenile mortality on small, inbred populations.
We discovered orange-bellied #parrot siblings have non-random mortality of brood mates!
What does this mean for siblings and small populations generally?

@ProffField@janemreid1 Thanks! I suspect there wouldn't be enough data, and that the history of the Cornish population (i.e. recent establishment and expansion) might make the patterns a bit tricker to clearly pick out for this population, but it would certainly be interesting to know!
#Ecology twitter–I’m looking for paper suggestions!
We see an interesting sex by #population size interaction in natal dispersal distances in Scottish chough (see fig).
Can anyone recommend other studies that explicitly tested for sex by density effects on #dispersal distances?
A week on & I'm just about ready to process that I'm #PhDone 😁.
Thanks to @JGAMartin & @bize_pierre for a wonderful & supportive supervision & to @englishse & @anapayopayo for a kind and encouraging viva!
Special mention to @SarahFenn11 for the new wall art!
