Aaron Del Mar and Kristina McCloy Challenge More Than 20,000 Signatures Submitted by Independent Candidate for Governor
CHICAGO, IL — Today, Aaron Del Mar and Kristina McCloy formally filed objections with the Illinois State Board of Elections challenging more than 20,000 signatures submitted by an independent candidate seeking a place on the ballot for Governor of Illinois.
The objections were filed following a detailed review of the candidate's petition sheets, which Del Mar and McCloy say uncovered thousands of potentially invalid signatures, along with evidence they allege indicates the use of paid petition circulators from outside Illinois. The challenge requests that the Illinois State Board of Elections conduct a full examination of the petitions to determine compliance with Illinois election law and ballot access requirements.
"Illinois voters deserve fair, transparent, and lawful elections," said Aaron Del Mar. "The petition process exists to ensure that every candidate demonstrates genuine support and complies with the law. Our review identified serious concerns that warrant a full examination by the Board of Elections. The same rules should apply equally to every candidate seeking public office."
Kristina McCloy added, "Election laws are not optional. When substantial questions arise regarding petition signatures and the methods used to collect them, those concerns deserve a thorough and transparent review. The people of Illinois deserve confidence that every candidate appearing on the ballot has met the legal requirements established by state law."
Del Mar noted that the Bailey/Del Mar campaign qualified for the ballot through a grassroots effort powered entirely by Illinois volunteers and supporters.
"Our campaign did not rely on paid out-of-state petition operations," Del Mar said. "Thousands of Illinoisans stepped forward to volunteer their time because they believe in our vision for the state. We are proud that our ballot access was earned through the hard work of supporters across Illinois."
Under Illinois law, candidates seeking ballot access must submit a required number of valid signatures from registered voters. Objections filed with the Board of Elections initiate a formal review process in which signatures may be examined and validated according to state election requirements.
Del Mar and McCloy emphasized that the challenge is intended to ensure compliance with election law, protect the integrity of the ballot, and maintain public confidence in the electoral process.
The Illinois State Board of Elections will now review the objections and determine the next steps in the validation process.

As someone who has personally struggled with my weight, I can tell you this kind of rhetoric isn’t helpful. It doesn’t solve problems, it just creates more division. We can and should have real debates about policy, priorities, and the future of our state. But attacking someone over their weight is unnecessary, unproductive, and has no place in our politics. #twill

JB Pritzker and Brandon Johnson on the run! 🚨
This is the escape vehicle heading south on the Stevenson Expressway with JB & BJ as they run from Donald Trump after their press conference today in Chicago!
Rob Reiner said exponentially worse about Trump than anything Trump said about him today….
And he did it almost every day, every hour for years.
He and Stephen King were both basically patient zero for TDS.
I’m not happy he died, but I’m not upset at Trump’s post about him.
Psychosis is a real thing.
Rob Reiner had a level of TDS that likely exuded a level of craziness around those he spent time with. Many people who have crazy kids have psychiatric issues themselves. You’ll notice a lot of celebrities have kids with addictions, trans kids, gay kids, spoiled kids, kids who commit crimes, and kids who are total dead beat losers because many were raised to have no accountability by parents who subscribe to hardcore liberalism.
Trump is right. Reiner himself sounded insane when he would speak. Imagine how crazy his own kid was… on drugs.
We have a mental health crisis in America.
I'm done talking about Rob Reiner. I'm sorry he and his wife were murdered. It's tragic the way they died, and he was very talented, but I won't pretend he wasn't a nasty person, sorry. You can rant about Trump all you want, but he's right.
