Do you know how easy it is to edit symbols in @lessonpix ? You can use the swap color tool to make this hockey player look like he plays for the @Capitals . You can also use the high contrast filter to make this picture easier to see! #ALLCAPS#ATSTeamPoe Let's Go Caps!
Excited about our new communication board that will help our students advocate for and express themselves at recess! Huge thanks to Mr.Bensiger for making it happen! Proud to work in such an inclusive and accessible school 💚🐧#AutismAcceptanceMonth@FranconiaES@ATS_FCPS@FCPSR3
As Autism Acceptance Month approaches, I invite you to listen to, and amplify, autistic voices in order to be the best advocate. I am beyond honored to teach my students and learn from them each and every day. #RedInstead#AutismAcceptanceWeek
Started trailing a student on a low tech TT8 overlay today and they are totally rocking it!! I’m crying happy tears!! Never under estimate the power of low tech! @AllMeansAllPTES@ShininginSped@ATS_FCPS@PoplarTreeES
Got our touch screen laptops today, the kids loved them! It was great to see educational games that they previously couldn’t play independently suddenly become accessible, these kids are pretty amazing and now they have another way to show their skills 😊 @ATS_FCPS
I love seeing how much the kids have grown in their recess recreation skills. We use bubbles (letting the wind blow for us), our amazing sensory path, our adaptive basketball hoop, and scooters!
My kids respond really well to graphic organizers that are more tactile and have elevated sections, I make them by taking a white board and hot gluing craft foam on to make spaces. It comes off easily when the kids are ready to have less scaffolds @ATS_FCPS@ACT_FCPS
Needed to make my SMARTboard accessible to a student who has difficulties standing and loves to mess with all the cords...repurposed old drumsticks so everyone has their own pointer! #getcreative#SPEDteaching#accessibility@ATS_FCPS
Adding visuals and tactile support can make a world of difference! We practiced place value by putting sticks into groups of tens (yellow) and ones (green). We then counted how many yellow sets we had and how many green left over we had @ATS_FCPS@ACT_FCPS
