@DrSJaishankar I am writing to formally raise a concern regarding the response I received when I contacted the Indian Embassy in Bahrain. I also find it confusing that after experiencing this issue, I am now being advised again to write back to the Bahrain Mission for assistance.

On 8 March at approximately 16:54, I called the embassy seeking assistance. The person who answered the phone clearly informed me that they could not help and stated, “No help, we cannot help,” and directed me to contact the Indian Embassy in Riyadh instead. The manner in which this was communicated was extremely discouraging, especially for someone reaching out to their country’s diplomatic mission for guidance and support.

Indian citizens working abroad, many leave the comfort of our homes in search of livelihood opportunities. In doing so, they contribute significantly not only to their families but also to the Indian economy through remittances . When we approach our embassies for assistance, we expect to be treated with understanding, respect, and at least basic guidance.

I would, however, like to acknowledge that another staff member from the Riyadh Mission shared the email address [email protected] and suggested that I send details there, which I did immediately.

Unfortunately, I have not received any positive response so far, and I now find that my mail is again being redirected back to the Bahrain

I must also respectfully state that such situations rarely occurred during the tenure of the late Madam Sushma Swaraj (May she rest in peace), who was widely respected for her prompt support and responsiveness to Indians abroad.

On September 5th, I booked tours for September 18th and 19th in Cinque Terre through ToursByLocals on behalf of my clients.
At the time of booking, the “Anytime Cancellation” option was not functioning properly. Since their travel plans were 90% confirmed, we proceeded with the standard booking.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, my clients initially requested cancellation. The lady"s father, who turned 100 years this August, had suddenly fallen ill , requiring her immediate presence and hospitalisation
When I contacted TBL support team, I was advised that the booking was non-refundable as it fell within the 15-day window. I explained that the “Anytime Cancellation” option had not worked at the time of booking and even offered to pay the upgrade cost retroactively. The response I received suggested that I should have canceled and rebooked — but respectfully, this would still have fallen within the same 15-day window, leaving us in the identical position.

I was further told that ToursByLocals would make full payment to the guide to protect their income. However, the guide has since confirmed he has not received any payment. At present, therefore, my clients’ funds are being retained by ToursByLocals for a service not rendered. This appears to be an internal decision, not a contractual necessity, and raises concerns.
Happily, I can also share the ladys father has now stabilized. My clients therefore wish to proceed with their travel and enjoy the Cinque Terre tours as originally scheduled on September 18th and 19th.
I have requested the TBL support for this and no response they are ghosting .

Finally a respected senior Shekhar Gupta states twice in his piece on Bank defaults that I have repaid in full - principal and interest due from Kingfisher Airlines. Truly appreciate factual and honest reporting without the usual negative hype and sensational lies despite proof. Let the Banks show you even one other example of complete and over recovery like in my case. They only hide behind NCLT sanctioned haircuts of public money.
