@SustainTeaching It is both. Students need to be writing more but in all subjects. It can’t be just English teachers—this isn’t a new idea! Since writing is such a core skill, quality matters, too!
@SustainTeaching My colleague and I are working on this now. We believe teaching writing conceptually will provide the scaffolding for students and the resources for teachers to allow all students to learn to write fluently and effectively.
This is a great reminder! I just had a coaching conversation where my colleague asked me what she should do in a certain situation. So I have a suggestion. She didn’t agree and she told me. 😁 So we put our heads together to explore other options and she found one that suited her
@teachbk Sounds like there’s POTENTIAL for some student self-reflection here. Maybe it’s more about the way that it’s done. What if it were in their notebooks and used as a point to reflect on their week and how they contributed to the community?
