@carolvorders@LBC I am unfortunately a constituent of hers & when I asked her, very politely, if she could explain her reasons for voting in the way that she had in a parliamentary vote that affected us, she didn’t answer & blocked me. She literally could not care any less about anyone but herself
@matt_saunders_ As a former nursing mum who endured many tutting (primarily older) people when I discreetly breastfed my kids - thank you. I was only asked to leave a couple of times and although I stood my ground, it’s hard when you feel vulnerable and knackered. Good on you!
@grantshapps you are so out of your depth and your interview on the #bbcR4 is shameful. You did not answer the questions and your attempts to tell the BBC to parrot the Gov policies is ridiculous.
@jk_rowling@SRGopal83@CormStrikeFan If you need anyone to pop out for some shopping, or to empty your washing machine or walk a dog, just say - anything to let you write…😁
@DaisyFret@MissLauraMarcus Wish I’d done that. I did the whole lot in a breathless, slightly sweaty rush, ignoring family and neglecting work in my desperation to hear that Robin had escaped…
Have just finished listening to #therunninggrave on @audible_com What a ride! Blimey that was stressful but brilliant and I really wasn’t sure at one point how it might end. Well done, @jk_rowling and please get on with the next book, I’ve got withdrawal symptoms already…
@pepppyyyy@AvantiWestCoast@modsghs I thought that. I wondered if they were poised to call social services in to take the heat off them if the correct supervisory ratios had not been observed…
@BBCr4today well done to @MishalHusain for pressing #sarahdines. The Tories’ utter lack of policy, humanity or integrity is demonstrated by Sarah’s desperate clutching at the “someone wasn’t deported and they murdered someone” line that even the Daily Mail might baulk at.
@Noelgsuperman@omid9 Farage has never hidden his racism. From BNP, UKIP, Enoch Powell, the Nazi inspired Brexit imagery, his allegiances are plainly displayed with even a cursory google.
@LeoKearse@omid9 Since when is racism “political dissidence”?
Dissidence is the act of publicly disagreeing with and criticising the government or a powerful person/group. This is not the reason Farage’s account was closed.
@ChichesterFT I was lucky enough to see The Sound of Music tonight - what an explosion of joy, talent, passion and exuberance. I loved every moment - and the singing - well, it was truly wonderful. Go and see it, I can’t recommend it highly enough.
@SketchesbyBoze There was a wonderful chap on R4 ages ago talking about marriage, sex etc. He and his wife were in their 80s but he said that they have sex every Saturday morning, without fail, before going off to Bowls. Gave me much hope for the future. 😁😁
@masato_jones Famalam. Hubster. A “cheeky” anything. Furbaby. Nom nom. People who refer to their pets as though they were children (E.g. “I had to arrange childcare for Mr Wiggles”) And yes, above all, holibobs.
This photo shows Captain Lewis Nixon of Easy Company, suffering a hangover after celebrating V-E Day in 1945.
In Berchtesgaden, Germany, Nixon had access to an extensive wine collection assembled by Hermann Göring, a leading Nazi figure. This collection was stolen from European wineries by the Nazis.
Despite experiencing intense combat during World War II, Nixon never fired a shot. He was famous for always carrying whisky, especially his favorite, Vat 69.
Dick Winters, commander of Easy Company, praised Nixon:
“Captain Lewis Nixon and I were together every step of the way from D-Day to Berchtesgaden, May 8, 1945 - VE-Day.
I still regard Lewis Nixon as the best combat officer who I had the opportunity to work with under fire. He never showed fear, and during the toughest times he could always think clearly and quickly.
Very few men can remain poised under an artillery concentration. Nixon was one of those officers. He always trusted me, from the time we met at Officer Candidate School.
While we were in training before we shipped overseas, Nixon hid his entire inventory of Vat 69 in my footlocker, under the tray holding my socks, underwear, and sweaters.
What greater trust, what greater honor could I ask for than to be trusted with his precious inventory of Vat 69?”
@bronzeageshawty I’d like to bring back the concept of drinking water from a glass. At work I’m surrounded by people constantly undoing a Chilly’s bottle to have a swig, when they sit all day 2ft from a water cooler. It’s ridiculous.
