I was sad to learn of Friedrich St. Florian’s recent passing. Friedrich taught architecture at @RISD for over 50 years and was well-known for designing the National World War II memorial in DC.

I feel fortunate to see his work every time I pull into our driveway in Saunderstown.

President Carter was ahead of his time in recognizing the importance of the African continent, as he was on many issues.

President Jimmy Carter was a remarkable man, a forward thinker who dedicated his life to public service.

In 1977, President Carter appointed my mother (an Africa advisor to him at the time) as U.S. Representative on the U.N. Commission for Social Development. (1/2)

Today, I was honored to administer the oath of office to new appointees to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.  

The Council is integral to the @HolocaustMuseum’s work in teaching millions of people each year about the dangers of unchecked hatred.
