Disgraceful interview by David Mencer on @BBCr4today right now
Appalling , gut wrenching propaganda as children starve.
I despair at the depths humanity can sink to.
Shocking that this man was once a Director of Labour Friends of Israel
Well done @bbcnickrobinson for trying to hold him to account.
I know coverage of disability benefits can be very distressing. So, I’ve worked with colleagues to make a range of support visible on The Guardian’s site.
If you click on a relevant news story, you’ll see a “drop box” of signposted mental health help as well as benefits advice.
When I wrote about assisted dying last month, I was told by advocates - including a nurse - that disabled people’s fears of a slippery slope is “propaganda” and hysterical. Consider that this is what The Times was willing to print. Imagine what these people are saying in private.
What I didn't need on #InternationalWheelchairDay was to go down a rabbit-hole reading numerous reviews of a revived show in which a wheelchair is used as a metaphor for powerlessness. As annoyed at the theatre critics giving it stars in 2024 as at the company for staging it 1/3
“It is easy to dismiss the dangers of a “slippery slope” when it is not you who is at risk of falling down it.”

Here’s the moral of the victorious campaign to stop disabled people being institutionalised: resistance is not futile.
My @guardian col. on Bristol council’s u-turn and holding onto hope (and fury). https://t.co/bMGfPhDXko
A council has been told by disabled campaigners that a “discriminatory” draft policy that could force people with high support needs into residential care is “fundamentally flawed” and “rides roughshod” over its obligations under the Care Act.
