A love poem dating back 4,000 years, inscribed in the Iraqi Assyrian language, written by a farmer girl to her shepherd lover.
According to Dr. Andrew George’s reading, the poem says:
“Search for me until you find me”
I am in the wilderness, wearied by swallowing thorns
And now I shall plant a vine
And the burning traces within me have been flooded with water
So take me as you cherish your little lambs
And care for me as you care for your herd
And search for me
Until you find me
