I found a patch of yellow lady's slipper orchids* yesterday while monitoring Tree Swallow nest boxes. Definitely one of the highlights of the day!

Yesterday, I started monitoring Tree Swallow nest boxes for 2025. I was able to capture and band several females. There was one already banded female; I wonder which box she used last year - will it be the same one as this year, or a different one?
I started cleaning out nest boxes today in preparation for the arrival of Tree Swallows back from the wintering grounds. One perk of this task in the spring is that it typically coincides with when the crocuses bloom. 🥰
