@MartinSLewis In 1996, earning a mighty £12,000 as an admin assistant after leaving uni, I splurged with my first pay packet. I spent £115 on a fabulous pair of patchwork leather boots from Buffalo. I still have them and have just realised how valuable they are! (I'll never part with them 😄)

fun fact: the english word "clue" (originally spelled "clew") used to mean a ball of yarn or thread. it took on the sense of "a piece of help or guidance" because of the myth of theseus, who is guided out of the labyrinth by ariadne's clew.

Thanks @Stuart1642 The work you have published, & continue to share through talks like this, has made a huge difference to our understanding of the BCW civilian experience in #Newark and the UK. @civilwarcentre exhibitions, school visits and town tours are far richer as a result.
Huge thanks to @Stuart1642 for an excellent & evocative talk last night, on the human cost of the Civil Wars on the people of Newark.
Our last online talk of this season is by our curator, on Mrs Cromwell's cookbook, food, print and politics - details at: https://t.co/DdB0qvuhG6
I've had a really inspiring and helpful couple of days at #AIMconference2024
Thank you so much @Aimuseums for a fab line-up, and a massive thank you to every single person at @BCLivingMuseum for making it happen so smoothly. Lovely venue, great staff, bostin food and beer!
