Wish I had some photos but am really proud to be able to say that I used to ride out with the Grand National winning jockey about 20 years ago at the late Peter Monteith’s yard whilst he was a student at Edinburgh university. @swaleycohen

I remember him winning a big race - possibly the Cheltenham Hunter chase - then riding one for Peter at Kelso. It was made favourite as punters must have thought Sam had come all the way up here just for the ride and Peter howling with laughter.
