They made art happen this year and gave a platform to so many new , established, LGBTQ writers and subjects, and I am privileged to be part of the line up. Make an evening of it with so many stories to choose!
@Natasha_Duffyyy I'd be very interested to know the % of female actors who get a break later in life. The absence of women breaking into the scene in later life really reflects how we value female roles and actors, and the narratives that only place female protagonists in younger 'sexy' roles.
Received word last night that Creative Ireland will be funding my debut documentary, 'Grief of the Seventh Child', about cures and healers in County Cavan, that looks at where this ancient practice fits in modern Ireland.
So honoured and over the moon!
@creativeirl
A teenager died on Dublin's streets, meaning several organisations incl Tulsa, Dept of Children, a school, possibly evens Camhs failed fatally,
But let's talk about restaurants disgusting golden syrup as maple syrup on #liveline.
Idk. It's like an episode of Black Mirror
SPHE needs to be ripped apart, had twice a week, include LGBTQ issues and break all taboos so no divide can be created because everyone of us exists and should be allowed to exist freely. No more homework time instead of class, or throwing a film to explain issues. Talk, listen!
I work with young people from LGBTQ backgrounds through drama, and what happened in Navan, is no once off. The radicalisation of straight young men who feel they are the ones left behind by society, needs to be addressed. Their lack of life experience is being weaponised
LGBTQ folk aren't a new 'thing' invented through social media. They've been left out of conversations and been deliberately made invisible, and organisations who work with young men particularly, need to have open conversations on this culture that affects queen ppl and women.
This Tate culture facilitates an anger towards queer folk and women, there is divide being created for no reason other than for him and others like him to make money through their podcasts or 'courses'. Schools need to take this seriously. The GAA needs to cop itself on
@afrosabi It's all fun and games until you have to explain to work that you are late cause you've been stuck behind a herd of cattle out on the roads 😂😂😂
@pamelamcq All I can say is thank you for bringing Jo into my life. She was always in my corner, my rock throughout the entire process. I'm sorry to you to Pamela losing a friend like her.
I'm in utter shock. Jo Egan was working with me as my dramaturg. I'm heartbroken. I'm devasted for her and her family. Her talent, her legacy, amplified marginalised voices. To her family, I'm so sorry. She changed my life. I can't believe you are gone Jo.
@HazelKLarkin Makes no sense whatsoever. I'm sure we're both feeling like we've been punched in the stomach. She was someone who'd always be in your corner. I can't believe this has happened. The loss everyone is feeling shows how much of an impact and impression she made
recognition of the 100 year history of the industrial school in the town. No memorial. Nothing in our museums about a fire that changed Ireland's history, and took the lives of 34 children and 1 elderly inmate.
Their lives were important. Their voices need to be heard.
Thanks to @cavanarts & Town Hall Theatre for the time and space to finish the next draft about the 1943 Cavan Orphanage fire.
I've had the incredible opportunity to work with @Macha_NI
as dramaturg on this project, and she has been my rock throughout. Hearing Ray Yeates,(1/3)
Mary Murray, and Colm O'Brien read my words was inspiring.
Dealing with a trauma about children takes a toll on your mental health and soul.
But it's important.
Behind me stands the 'new' orphanage with windows similar to those the children jumped from.
There's no public (2/3)
