My heart hurts for every mother’s child… young and old, civilian and soldier, all humans in harm’s way at this moment…
May we see our fellow humans through the eyes of mercy
This feels like OpenAI has just entered its ‘perimenopause-leave-yourself-sticky-notes-to-remember-where-you-left-your-readers’ phase *sips coffee and raises my mug* … just wait until the hot flashes arrive. 😂

Oh my do we have a full docket my Loves, a full, full docket… we have much to ponder, discuss and marinate on… things like, who owns your face *sips coffee and laughs like an evil super villain*
As always, ALL are welcome. Brew a cuppa, get the dog walked, maybe chip away at your 10k steps or pull a few weeds out of the garden… see ‘y’all in a bit ✨☕️✨
There is a beauty in how ink flows across a surface just long enough to capture a flowing idea before settling amongst the fibers and becoming one with a page of history.
To Write… take note… To Right… take action & adjust course…
As a hackschooling Mom once upon a time & now mentor to those in that phase of life, writing a 5 paragraph essay of some sort daily… narrative, argumentative, descriptive, or expository on a chosen or chosen for you topic in INK & BY HAND made better thinkers, writers, and doers in a way nothing else can compete with or compare to… when my kids could not settle on a topic, they copied an essay in their journal, word for word, by an accomplished human they found interesting… copy work not only tethers us to humanity, it teaches us how to mimic excellence until we can make it our own.
Some of my favorite essays were from the middle Makerspawn who hated writing… his treatises on why ‘Tests don’t Test, They Suck,’ ‘Dinosaurs Make Kids Smart,’ and ‘You learn a lot from licking rocks and batteries…’ were some of my personal favorites…. And yes, he had to sit at the kitchen counter until they were done… and yes, sometimes that was literally all day- not because the writing took that long… no… the negotiating, doodling, and stubborn resolve to procrastinate ate up the lion’s share of time wasted and ink spared.
Someone asked me today, ‘what makes good makers…’ it was a loaded question & something I’ve been marinating on this morning.
Literacy… being literate and exercising that skill in all its forms- especially writing… ON PAPER… is at the core of a maker mindset methinks… not just for children but, ALL humans. We live in an Age where our units of attention are being stolen… spending time writing your thoughts down are Proofs of Human… marks that filled minutes and were captured for posterity.
Taps on a screen are measured by algorithms harvesting the ‘CURRENTcy’ of a digital age… YOUR precious time & energy… Algos only remember that which keeps you tapping and focused on their screen…. And not on your calling or higher purpose unplugged & out in the wild… They may know your fingerprints but, they do not know your hand… the writing on a page writ by a lakeside or in a hammock… at least not yet 😉
Our robotics kiddos are encouraged to write 1 page in their engineering notebooks/commonplace books daily. We set aside 30 minutes… no tech, no screens, no talking… just fancy pens and glorious handmade archival ink.
10/10 Highly recommend ✨☕️✨
@rangichan@MeditateColor@Pixel0Symphony Oh my heart what a GLORIOUS account. Thank you for the recommendation… I think I bookmarked 20 posts already… what a pure joy…. A pure, pure joy.
Thank you for thinking of me… this little discovery made my day Rangi , it really did 🤟🫂

Just got back from the rural vet…
All 7 of our dogs have had serious issues since Wednesday of last week (2 in critical condition but now on the mend we think)… rather than be too graphic, the word ‘projectile’ & things are exiting from the mouth & tail with explosive force combined with respiratory problems & swollen eyes have been what we’ve been dealing with… 24/7 working in shifts to keep everyone hydrated and cleaned up.
The vet said he has had hundreds of calls of exact same thing over the last 6 days (we are a small, one stop light kind of town… at best, they see a handful of patients on any given week)… these calls (most with multiple animals in house combined with some house calls on large farms included) all coinciding with the smoke coming in from the north.
Now, for the record, our animals were kept indoors with air purifiers on during the worst days last week with limited exposure to the outside & they have had a horrible go… there are countless other animals the vet has seen that are way worse off… these animals are a bell-weather… a proverbial canary in the coal mine. We all had/have a gut feeling… the smoke didn’t smell like a campfire on a Friday night- it had a chemical burn acridity about it that felt off… felt dangerous.
I don’t think we’ll ever know what was/is actually in the air from these wildfires nor its true affects… we just don’t have the data… but, our vet now has a whole collection of samples (thousands)… the mustard yellow/bile looking and terrifying red colored ‘outputs’ gathered from the afflicted… all tested for parasites & the like… all negative for the normal stuff he sees on the regular… he has the raw data… and now, he has a new skill… the ability to use AI to aggregate and suss out what the human might be missing… making the invisible now visible.
And, since we just had recent bloodwork on each of the digitally twinned puppies, we have a baseline… we aren’t waiting for some agency to release data… humans CAN just do things.
✨☕️✨
🤟🫂
I was legit scared for the puppers on Friday/Sat but, it has gotten better as each day passes & I think we are outta the proverbial woods health-wise now *knock on wood* and at least better prepared for the next time.
Canada & Michigan have a special bond… the pictures coming out of Ontario were/are horrifying & to experience smoke as thick & damaging as it was so far away was/is something very scary.
I’ve always kept folks in wildfire zones in my prayers… I’m now adding everyone downwind from them too. 🙏
I think the worst of it has passed thankfully… The animals (and people stuck outside without goggles/PPA) had swollen & irritated eyes and those wonky green eye boogers sealing the eyes shut when they woke up in the morning… definitely not fun.
*big hugs to you and yours* Stay Safe 🤟🫂
@reprinted3D 🤟🫂
I think we are through the worst of it *fingers crossed* … it really puts into perspective what the living things residing downwind in wildfire zones face. 🤟🫂
That is what we thought too… even though all have been inoculated against it, I was almost positive that was what we were dealing with- it resembled a typical case. All the tests came back negative & we did a second round just to be sure. The weirdest thing… these are literal working livestock guardians… you expect worms and tick-borne illnesses and such… their blood work came back pristine. But, yeah… I totally thought parvo too.
🤟🫂
We have a farm down the way who lost a gaggle of baby goats. They are a 4-H family & and these were their kiddo’s first season whelping & raising… The air on Thursday and Friday was akin to living through a pumpkin soup haze in such a huge swath of the mid-west… I can’t imagine folks living in wildfire country, I just can’t
