French media have reported an arson attack at the Villeurbanne, near Lyon, home of the mother of a Samui Exotic Park owner, amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the Koh Samui zoo.
The zoo owner’s wife, Jin Jindarat, shared images of the fire on Facebook. French reports said a car was set alight and a second Molotov cocktail was found at the scene. Investigators have not publicly established a direct link between the attack and the dispute in Thailand.
The case has already led to action in Koh Samui, where a court fined an Israeli man 5,000 baht over a Facebook death threat against the owner of Samui Exotic Park.
Police said the man, identified only as Jacob, was arrested after officers set up a checkpoint outside the zoo on 15 August. The fine was suspended for two years, and he was ordered to comply with Thai law.
The dispute began after the zoo announced it would refuse entry to Israeli visitors. Police are also searching for another person accused of offering a 500,000-baht bounty for the zoo owner’s death.
