@ECACCommishDoug Just wrapped with Doug Christiansen, Commissioner of ECAC Hockey.
Player, coach, GM, commissioner, he's sat on every side of the table. But the part that stayed with us wasn't the résumé.
But the many challenges he faced along the way and how he managed them.
We asked Steve Trimper about his biggest failure.
Not a loss. The relationships he didn't build from 25 to 40.
It took him 18 years to reach back out.

Keep making the same mistake?
Stop guessing. Start diagnosing. 3 common reasons for mistakes:
➡️ Misunderstanding
➡️ Inattention
➡️ Lack of skill to execute (can be due to tension to)
Figure out which one it is, then make a plan.
Own your growth.
From one of my favorite authors, John Maxwell:
“You can go from failure to success, but not from excuses to success.”
Failure is a teacher; excuses and blame are chains. If you’re not seeing progress, ask: Am I learning—or making excuses? Be honest.
When challenges pop up like unfair decisions, tough games, setbacks, remember: focus on what you can control, trust your preparation, and use adversity as fuel. Growth happens when you respond well to adversity, not when things are easy!
