Work in production, live in pop culture. Trying to keep the compass True North. Opinions belong to me, not any of the people insane enough to employ me.
This is seriously making me consider whether I want to be here anymore. It feels like complicity.

Just watched Good Grief on the plane and m8, it is a NZ series that absolutely nails it. Shot @TVNZ and @FlyAirNZ! (but please bring back more NZ music on your planes - Harry Styles really doesn’t need to be the featured album and Taylor Swift doesn’t need the bathroom spins 🙃)
@mikeythenurse @GoVern2018 god i fucking love bad drivers blaming their utter lack of basic driving skills on bike lanes... the concrete barrier did what it does best: not move. the rest is on you, pal.
And finally - this is also why public funding of the arts is so important, because we can't let the market be the only determinant of what art makes it onto a stage. 5/
there are SO MANY MORE contributing factors that @radionz is missing: fuel prices, shipping crisis, generally tight labour market, post-shutdown infrastructure shortages, higher food prices, increased demand for EVERYTHING during the busiest season we've seen in a decade... 1/
On top of that, your favourite artists - and all of their people, and the rest of the industry - didn't work for two years. Nobody is volunteering for a pay cut.
Some of these companies and some of these acts pay my invoices. I love my work and I'm not a disinterested party. 4/
Just coming on here to say the obvious: Trans Women Are Women. Trans & non-binary whānau are loved, valued and welcomed down here and if anyone is ever making you feel unsafe please let us know. Jacob would just like a chat. Outside.
@coolrockband i rex it's because they have a market that sustains a healthy demand for all of those roles (mgmt, agent, publicist, etc). in Aotearoa it's quite a challenge to make a living as any of those people working exclusively in music.
@simianaudio@timharding Yes. Up until @TheSpinoffTV article, TAU’s line was “it’s his word against theirs”. But since he said on record he used a chunk of the event money to cover his own cashflow issues, I have been asking pointedly if that constitutes a clear breach of the funding agreement. No reply.
@funksterism Reading your story and realising this was going on (again) back in 2019 was WILD. That’s why this story had to happen. Get it all out in the open.
I would love - LOVE - to make sure that he isn't able to duck away, resurface in a couple years, and do it all again (as is his habit). So send this far and wide, and if you have your own dealings with the guy to contribute, there are people working on things. DM me.
This is the tiniest smattering of the fraud and theft that Keegan Fepulea'i @JusayinAKL has been getting away with in the Auckland live music industry for 10+ years now but at least some of his shit is getting publicly aired for a change. https://t.co/zExbeSpMEX @TheSpinoffTV
