Trying to read 1 research paper a day andh something surprising came across! The old humble RAG just beat complex AI memory systems.
Mem0, MemOS, EverMemOS, MemMachine & others.

Recently, I got interested in fine-grained image retrieval for industrial spare parts...identifying the exact component from a photograph.
I came across a CVPRW 2026 paper on this problem, read through it, and decided to explore some of the ideas in my own experiments.
A few interesting observations from my experiments:
→ DINOv3 showed promising improvements over DINOv2, especially under rotation and blur.
→ Patch reranking improved retrieval in my setup.
→ Bigger models weren't consistently better across every condition.
