“To ensure there is adequate capital, there is a role for the government to provide assurance to industry to take risk. The assurance that the government is there to provide support. For resilience of supply chains, the government and industry have to work together. It cannot be only government talking or industry alone doing; it has to be a joint collaboration.”

Recognising the funding gap faced by life sciences startups, under PRIP Scheme, we have made an amendment so that up to ₹50 crores or $5 million of equity funding could be provided to start ups. We are providing an opportunity to open up a new window to fill the ‘valley of death’ in the life sciences area for startups. I hope more and more people would make use of that in PRIP as well as in the Biopharma Shakti Mission : Shri Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals
