Today I carry in my 💙 #Pinay sister Luisa A. Igloria's @ThePoetsLizard wisdom: "stay the trigger, the heart to register / its trembling".
"Custody" too can shift from restraint to "guardianship, // keeping, care."
Hers is a sung abundance of verse & heart.

"I also thought about the word custody itself, and how its meanings casually shift from the idea of protection or care, to that of legal restraint and imprisonment."

"[ ] died alone . . . [ ] died in the afternoon" @mariahdbosch writes in "Obituary Generator." Even w/o their names, she does not forget them. Through the elegy, we reclaim the daily ways of those we've lost who have lived--who have lived. @FresnoStateMFA@Laureate_lab
When did my heart
become a boat, this desert the moving
chart of my palm? And when did pain invert
the sky to glaucous sea, each home on each hill
rocking?

The roots of anti-Asian violence stems from the long history of US wars and militarism in Asia and Pacific. When you can drop thousands of bombs and splatter napalm and agent orange on millions of Asian lives, that dehumanization will come home to roost. https://t.co/O71JNFqeWO
"The view triggered for me a sense of overlapping time and place, including my father’s memory of the Korean War, which first appeared in my book Hardly War."

With the recent killing of six Asian women in Atlanta and the rise of anti-Asian violence across the country, we feel it is important to point out that anti-Asian violence (esp against women) is partly rooted in the long history of violence waged through US imperialism in Asia.
"in Seoul, three days after the war had begun, my father washed his face and looked up at the stars" the extraordinary @DonMeeChoi imagines, in a poem of "endless barbed" wires "across the waist" of nations. How we rend geographies, people. @nationalbook@WavePoetry @DAAD_Artists
The incessant chirping of the sparrows perched on tall birch trees outside my balcony only heightened my grief.

We do not ask for your violence. Our bodies are ours, and not a danger: not for your fantasy, not for your brutality, and not for erasure.
May our women rest in peace and power.

"I left the convent in 1991 when I was about to turn forty, the same decade of life as Bishop’s when she partnered with Lota. I, too, felt the world shift under my feet." https://t.co/hVjXu7fwqE
