I think it's less about where they came from and more about WHEN they started. A lot of success happened at the birth of vtubers/peak hype years ago before the market was insanely oversaturated. Getting in at the right time was EVERYTHING. It is exponentially harder now.

Something a lot of successful Vtubers don't outright say is that they had previous lives elsewhere or were already known in communities (Cosplay, Art, etc) other than Vtubing. They already had eyes on them when they "first started".
As someone who started with 0 presence online, there's nothing better than getting out there and streaming. Find your niche, find your people, make content.
