The masses enjoy Nolan films because it makes the average person feel smart

The average midwit watching his movies feel like they're really engaging with deep and profound themes. It makes them feel like they're an intellectual when they're just watching a Hollywood blockbuster.

When I saw people's reactions to Emily Wilson's negative review and how much people were seething it was obvious. "What do you mean its bad writing and it doesn't have anything interesting to say about war? I, as a midwit, had my brain blown by how much it made me think." Like yeah the writing was cliche and Nolan didn't say anything new. He took a rich and complex character and wrote him down to a one-note character midwits could identify with. Because they can't enjoy a film if they have to try to actually engage and think about characters, themes and a setting that's a bit foreign to them.
