@katec1956@ShannonBDouglas@GeorgeTakei There's no larping, nor desire to claim "oppression points", nor attempt to hold a candle and claim shared history with homosexuals. Again, this is your imagination.
@ShannonBDouglas@katec1956@GeorgeTakei There's not a single day in the calendar where everyone is expected to participate.
If you don't want to, you don't have to. Just stop complaining about those who do.
@katec1956@ShannonBDouglas@GeorgeTakei Seriously, a themed date in the calendar is the easiest thing to ignore if you want to. I'm baffled why you think you have to throw a party for asexuals because we certainly don't need or want you to. You're putting way too much stock into something not aimed at you.
@katec1956@ShannonBDouglas@GeorgeTakei Not a single asexual is asking for "everyone" to celebrate them. Nor are they telling everyone at every turn about their identity.
You really are making things up based on what you've heard or what you feel is true.
@brimstone_golem@paperbackfern@jk_rowling@monitoringspin But that's why asexuality is considered a spectrum that, while more heteronormative than being gay, is a separate set of experiences that creates its own challenges. This is mostly confined to dating but, as the infamous tweet showed, is not popular in the zeitgeist either.
@brimstone_golem@paperbackfern@jk_rowling@monitoringspin - when faced with inevitable pushback, claim they're being bullied for not immediately agreeing to the original premise.
It probably does look strange to keep adding letters to LGBT. Even I've seen folders with extensive "identities" and flags listed and yeah, it's kinda off!
@katec1956@ShannonBDouglas@GeorgeTakei Of course not, because I am able to let others enjoy days that aren't targeted at me.
Shame you can't do the same.
@nakedpastor It also happens whenever the poor express food insecurity or ask for free school meals for their kids. There's always a wealthy busybody telling them to subsist on oatmeal three times a day and stop whining.
@brimstone_golem@paperbackfern@jk_rowling@monitoringspin Then Rowling crashes the party screaming "Nobody cares about your birthday, you're not special, I don't want to hear it!" and her friends join in by popping balloons and upending tables. Drawing even more attention than if they'd just walked on by.
@brimstone_golem@paperbackfern@jk_rowling@monitoringspin Actually that's a good analogy. Let's say you have a private birthday party in a public venue. Your door is open for expected guests and there is appropriate signage. Music is playing but others can only hear it if they get close.
@brimstone_golem@paperbackfern@jk_rowling@monitoringspin We were celebrating quietly, until Rowling butted in. She started the fire.
Do you even know where she got that image from? An obscure post with 125 views by a small charity. She had to go looking for it to find it.
@brimstone_golem@paperbackfern@jk_rowling@monitoringspin Can I ask you something? What exactly does it cost you if you accidentally learn about a visibility day for people who aren't you? How does it diminish your life that there's a calendar date about a group you're not in?
