@paullewismoney@AlanJLSmith We were paying 33% income tax until late 70s with 7.5% VAT and then Geoffrey Howe doubled it to 15% and Thachter sold family silver to reduce tax. Of course since then we have older demographics so ....
@DaveHeather13@JamesMelville Many regularly pick up litter in their own neighbourhood. Hope civic sense returns to not litter in the 1st place. Cleaning road sign is commendable
@dndsm@JamesMelville Perhaps lot of money raised goes to privatised children care home or adult social care or additional NI on employers or minimum wage increase. Remember we had 33% basic rate income tax and 7.5% VAT until Geoffrey Howe doubled it & Mrs Thatcher sold family silver for tax cuts.
@manoj_216 Banks levy huge charges on forex plus high interest rate for foreign studies. System is rigged. Very few scholarships available from so called top companies and their billionaire owners. Emigrate at 1st opportunity
@manoj_216 Time students focused on vocational skills. Not all tertiary education is same. A degree from an unknown University is of lower value than from a reputed one. Obvious statement but often forgotten. Young people need to migrate for opportunities and quality of life.
@dave43law Yet we charge extra ยฃ1000 to international students im addition to NI for those on work visa to use our NHS. Funny.
None of them qualify for state retirement pensions of course!
@dave43law People in developing countries laugh at our health service. Many tourists if they become ill they fly back home instead of getting medical help here. What a sorry state.
@dave43law Decline of the UK since late 70s when 30 minutes was the waiting times at local A&E. Yes basic rax was 33% but VAT was 7.5% until Geoffrey Howe doubled it claiming EU as a reason. We also had students bursary and grant and all medical students could find work with NHS unlike now
@FinanceTiger@Pecunious365 Wish government just increase income tax by 1p and restore all other allowances in line with inflation. All slealth tax is preventing lasting economic growth and bonanza for tax advisers. Scrap tax relief for charities as genuine organisations will be funded by well wishers
